Shayla and Derek had a perfect wedding day in Rockport, MA, with sunny skies, beautiful locations, and lots of love.
Bride Shayla’s favorite wedding day detail was her lace veil that her mother MADE for her! She looked stunning in it and it complimented her dress so well.
The ceremony took place at St. Joachim Church in quaint downtown Rockport.
After the ceremony we took photos at The Headlands, overlooking Rockport Harbor.
Vanilla extract favors homemade by the mother of the bride AND passed around ice-cold milkshakes for dessert?! That’s a pretty sweet and unique reception! 😉
Thank you Shayla and Derek for choosing me to capture your special day!

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
Shayla: for me it was after the ceremony when we got into the trolley outside the church with our bridesmaids and groomsmen. All of the guests were leaving and stopping by the open trolley window to congratulate us. It was totally unplanned and special!
Derek: Scott (brides father) handing her off to me.
What was your favorite detail?
That my mother made my veil. It meant so much to me and it was beautiful.
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Enjoy the day- it goes by fast! Also, the day will be perfect no matter what so don’t get too bogged down in details before hand. You will realize things like napkin colors and decorations don’t matter as much as the moments you will have with your spouse and guests.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
The Deacon calling the bride Kayla instead of Shayla at first. It lightened the mood and is something we will always remember and laugh about!
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Not one thing! Except maybe the humidity.. A breeze would have been nice!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
In March we are flying to San Fransisco and doing a California coast road trip to San Diego. We can’t wait!
