Gaia & Emil’s Hammond Castle Elopement – Massachusetts Wedding Photographer

Gaia and Emil shared an intimate elopement at Hammond Castle Museum in Gloucester, MA.

Since Gaia’s family all live in Italy and couldn’t be present for their wedding, she wanted to wear some unique details to include a piece of her family in her special day. She wore pearl and diamond earrings from her grandmother who passed away in 2006 and a beautiful vintage bracelet from her mom that matched a vintage hair brooch by Coro, 1940.

The atmosphere of the castle complimented this couple’s vintage class so well.

It rained steadily throughout the afternoon, but the couple couldn’t resist taking photos around the castle grounds. Gaia pointed out that the rain made the castle and it’s surroundings even more romantic and I have to agree.

Gaia said the atmosphere was “surreal, magical and blessed by the rain.”  She shares more below about how they say in Italy “Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata,” meaning “Wet bride, lucky bride.” They definitely are lucky!

Bride/Groom Questions

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Just being together in the presence of us during such a special and intimate time that we will forever remember and cherish it. Unfortunately, our family members were not able to be present on our day, but they were with us in heart and spirit.

What was your favorite detail?

Certainly, the Hammond Castle accompanied by the rain created a more romantic and sophisticated atmosphere for us which was our favorite detail. It felt surreal, magical and blessed by the rain as we say in Italy “Sposa bagnata sposa fortunata”, “Wet bride lucky bride” . We felt very lucky that day!

Any advice for future brides/grooms who are considering eloping?

My best advice is to think about the couple, what the couple wants and not what other people want because it will always be difficult to please everyone. It is a particular day filled with different emotions and feelings and even if things will not be as perfect as expected, think of the “us” because it is the “us” that makes everything better and perfect. Enjoy and have fun!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

We were nervous, anxious and excited at the same time, especially nervous and anxious because we got to the Castle late due to traffic and rain without relaxing first with pictures, but changing and going right into the ceremony! Oops! Our faces may show in the pictures!!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

I would not change anything! It was a beautiful and special day and we look forward to more celebrations like this one in the future!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We will be going to Italy in the summer to celebrate with our family and friends as well as having a honeymoon there.

I would also like to thank Brianna and her husband for being so supportive, warm and helpful with us on our special day! We wholeheartedly appreciated it!

Any other special details?
