How did you meet?
My best friend went to high school with Spencer and they were in drama club together. She invited us both to a scavenger hunt and we were on the same team. We became friends and the rest is history!
How did Spencer propose?
He took me to our favorite garden (Glen Magna in Danvers) on what turned out to be the coldest day of the year March 11. He got down on one knee in the snow under our favorite tree that we always visit, one we’ve sat under for years.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Sharing our first dance was really special for us. We are not dancers at all, but love to have fun trying new things and being silly. We thought a choreographed dance with lifts and twirls would be fun! Practicing in a tiny living room leading up to the wedding day made for funny memories. It was also nice to enjoy lots of quality time together doing something fun, without stress. We messed up a bit on the wedding day but that actually made it even more special. Surrounded by everyone we love, and just having fun, we will never forget it.
What was your favorite detail?
I have so many! ‘Im really glad we went with jumbo flowers. When I told some people the idea, Id get shocked gasps and skeptical looks. But I just love how quirky and different they are. The jumbo red rose really popped against the white dress. Also, the necklace that I wore with my wedding dress was the first gift Spencer ever gave me, years ago. A simple silver tiger on a silver chain.
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Calm down!!!! Take a deep breath and remember that this day is all about celebrating the love you two found together. Napkin colors, favor labels, ribbon size, matching fonts, hashtags, that tiny pinhole in the corner of that one table cloth, none of that matters. When in the trenches of planning, you can get wrapped up in small details that on the actual wedding day, nobody even notices. So don’t overthink things and fall down rabbit holes of meaningless detail, stressing yourself out.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
The very end of our wedding was so unforgettable and funny. For our last dance, the only people left were my entire family, and two good friends. They surrounded Spencer and I in a circle, swaying and singing along with the song, then at the end, rushed into us, creating the biggest group hug ever. We felt so loved and everyone was laughing. Wonderful memory.
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
If I did it all again, I would eat more on the wedding day! Honestly, everything went so smoothly and we had such a magical day, but all the guests were raving about the food, and at the end I realized I hadn’t gotten to try everything.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Disney World for a week, with a day in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal! We had the time of our lives staying at the Animal Kingdom Resort with a savannah view of giraffes and zebras outside our roomb. We wore our couples’ shirts and bride and groom ears, and had the most magical vacation. On our last night we attended the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, enjoying the foam snow fall, parades, and epic firework shows! It was unforgettable!
