Bursting with bright colors and unique handcrafted details, this DIY wedding is one to remember! Michelle & George’s theme was “One Big Love” and that big love for each other was so evident and beautiful.
The bride-to-be getting into her stunning wedding dress by Tadashi Shoji
Excited Father of the bride and Mother of the bride (reflection in mirror) giddy over their beautiful daughter!
Michelle’s accessories (including the handmade flowers in her hair) all complimented her dress so beautifully. The couple also wanted to honor George’s late father for Michelle’s “something blue” so they took one of his favorite blue handkerchiefs and sewed it into her wedding gown in the shape of a heart.
Bridal portraits in natural light for a natural beauty
Once the bride and groom & their bridal parties were ready, Michelle & George met outside their Gloucester home for their *first look*
I love that the bridal party was carted around in a school bus.
We made sure to take some pictures at the Budrow family home to remember George’s father, who went by the nickname “Big Guy.” (I love how George’s grandmother was looking on in the background).
Some dapper dudes!
The bride got cheeky 😉
Michelle MADE giant paper flowers for her and her bridesmaids to carry, along with matching little paper boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen to wear. Talk about DIY queen! They all looked so beautiful!
When your bridal party has giant paper flowers, you gotta take some fun pictures….
….and the guys had to get in on the flower fun too! 😉
The ceremony & reception were held at the Rockport Golf Club, a perfect location for this couple’s DIY wedding extravaganza.
The “One Big Love” and handmade theme showed through the brightly colored decor. It was a DIY delight, with the escort cards and signs designed by one of Michelle’s bridesmaids, Whitney Chin Designs, the guest book quilt and vibrant cloth banners that Michelle also made!
Oh, and remember the paper flowers Michelle made for her bridal party? Well, she also created many more for the table and reception decor!
Michelle’s father danced his way down the aisle with Michelle to “My Girl” by the Temptations
Couldn’t think of a better way to share your first kiss as husband and wife than with a surprise showering of confetti!
Let the party begin!
The best man and maid of honor (Michelle’s sister) both gave very touching & funny speeches.
American BBQ provided some AMAZING down home cooking! (My personal favorite BBQ joint on the North Shore. SO yummy!)
First Dance as Mr. and Mrs. 🙂
Peter Accolla of NuImage Entertainment got the whole crowd moving ALL NIGHT LONG!
The father of the bride gave a great speech before their Father-Daughter dance, proclaiming his love for the newlyweds and everyone there, inviting everyone onto the dance floor as “Good Lovin'” played by The Rascals.
Things got REALLY fun when Michelle took over for Peter Accolla as The Bride DJ!
I loved this candid moment of the new Mr. and Mrs. reveling in their beautiful celebration with family and friends. It truly was a day of BIG love! Thank you Michelle & George for letting me be a part of it!

Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Make sure to surround yourself with who and what you love. Hold tight to the decisions that are important to you. If you have a fun idea or vision for your day (especially one that may be less than traditional), don’t be swayed by other people’s reactions to your plans or think you have to do things a certain way because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do. Decide as a couple what is meaningful to you and how you want to celebrate your marriage. Hang on to that. Focus on each other and your love….beacause really, that’s what it’s all about.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Goodness! That’s a tough one. Our wedding day was a bundle of happy, silly and funny memories. To mention a few – a silly quote in the ceremony, goofy wedding party photos, funny speeches. But… I think the dance-floor has to take the win. There were babies in the air, people on the floor, even split pants! Our guests had moves that kept us laughing all night 🙂
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Not a thing.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
